Joseph Diaz, MD, MPH
Biography
After graduating from Brown Medical School, Dr. Diaz completed his residency and fellowship training in Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital. He also completed a master’s in public health at Brown. Since 2001, Dr. Diaz has worked as a primary care physician in Pawtucket, Rhode Island and previously served as Chief of Medicine at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
Dr. Diaz currently serves as the Chief Health Equity Officer for Care New England, as a Medical Director for Integra’s Medicaid Accountable Entity program, and as the Associate Dean for Diversity and Multicultural Affairs at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, where he works with medical school and health system colleagues on diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives with a focus on pathways programming. He is also a co-director of the Scholarly Concentration in Care of the Underserved, and his clinical work and research focus on the delivery of health care to underserved communities..
